Naoma’s Chocolate Cake

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1 cup oil

1 tsp. vanilla


Beat one cup of the sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla til fluffy.


Sift together:


2 ½ cups flour

1 cup remaining sugar

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

5 Tbsp. cocoa


Alternate adding dry ingredients and 1 cup buttermilk to first mixture. Add 1 cup boiling water all at once. Bake 40 – 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Use chocolate butter cream frosting and sprinkle finely chopped walnuts over the top of the cake. When Grandma Naoma made this cake, she only sprinkled half the cake with walnuts.
