Melissa Kimball’s *Freaky Brownie Thingys

1 cup margarine (she says it has to be margarine), melted

5 rounded Tbsp. cocoa

3 cups sugar

6 eggs

2 ½ cups flour

½ salt


Stir the margarine and cocoa in a bowl. Whip the sugar and eggs in a mixing bowl. Combine the two mixtures into one large bowl. Stir in flour and salt. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, till outer edges start to crack.


Frosting:

3 cups powdered sugar

½ cup margarine

½ cup cocoa

¼ tsp. salt

3 Tbsp. light Karo syrup

½ cup warm water

½ tsp. vanilla


Whip first 5 ingredients. Add water and vanilla and whip.


*These are “freaky” because they are not a brownie and not a cake, but they undeniably delicious!
